whether in community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, primary care, university, further education college or a specialist unit. about us pharmacy workforce nw the pharmacy workforce nw is overseen by a development board (pwdb) which operates at strategic level in the nw and synthesizes the expert perspectives of pharmacy services across primary, secondary, specialist and community sectors and education institutions. the pwdb ensures a cohesive and coordinated approach is achieved towards the delivery of workforce planning, education, training and development for pharmacy within the nw. the pwdb oversees the action and activities of a range of subgroups and projects under its jurisdiction including undergraduate, pre-registration, post-registration and continuing professional development. nw pharmacy workforce development team the pharmacy workforce network is supported by a nw development team that works with the pwdb and its subgroups to ensure alignment of local delivery plans, nhs priorities and professional requirements. the team ensures that education and training matches identified learning needs and the delivery of the right numbers of suitably trained pharmacy staff with skills and competences appropriate for service requirements. the development team is funded by health education england north west's team and is hosted by salford royal foundation trust. the team has responsibility for the education, training and development of the pharmacy workforce in all sectors across the north west. members of the team also advise the nw letb on strategic pharmacy workforce issues. the pharmacy component of the education & training budget is managed by members of the team providing expenditure breakdowns throughout the year to inform the business planning process of health education england north west's team. members of the team monitor and performance manage contracts with education providers and service providers, and facilitate the development and provision of training for pharmacists, technicians and support staff to ensure education and training provision matches identified learning needs and the delivery of adequate numbers of suitably trained staff for service requirements. the team consists of three whole time officers: geoff saunders fcpp frpharms ffrps programme manager: pharmacy professions network geoff is the lead for education, training and development of the pharmacy workforce across all sectors of the north west. prior to joining the workforce development team in august 2014, geoff was working full time as consultant oncology pharmacist at the christie nhs foundation trust. geoff's current responsibilities include advising on the commissioning of training and education of a range of nw pharmacy staff;
